Nunca percebi porque é que as pessoas choram quando estão tristes e não fazem outra coisa qualquer...Não percebo a fisiologia da coisa... Tanta coisa mais melhor boa para se fazer e o corpinho tinha que se lembrar disto de chorar...

I did some tiny research on that, and i think that the reason is a social one. Probably crying with tears made sense in evolution for small babies, who cannot express strong negative feelings otherwise. They cannot speak, they cannot laugh or anything. And helpless babies need a strong signal to let people around them know that something is wrong with them.
I think that makes sense....
